Thank you for visiting our blog. I lead the medical malpractice group at the law firm of Koplow & Patane. I help children who have birth injuries. I also help parents of children who are injured, or die, due to birth complications or medical errors.
One of the most important questions I help parents answer is this: "Why and how did this happen?"
The answer is not always simple. And as you read our blog and website, you will see that birth injuries can occur for unknown or "natural" reasons. Other times, they occur because of medical malpractice.
Once we have been able to answer the question of why and how a child was injured or died, I help parents understand their legal rights. We discuss whether they have legal grounds to hold other people responsible. We talk about the needs of the child and parents, and how they might be met. I talk parents through the legal process, I counsel them on their options, and, if a decision is made to move forward, I help them fight to get what they and their child need and deserve.
